Funner Runner Spotlight: Ausley Allison

Funner Runner Half Marathon Training - Deborah Ausley

As a No Boundaries member, Ausley truly embraced the "Change Everything" tagline.  She's increased her stamina, mileage and is now training for her first half marathon under the tutelage of Funner Runner coach, Stevven Anderson.  Learn more about Ausley is this week's Funner Runner Spotlight!

Why did you start running?
About a year ago. I joined the No Boundaries 5k training group and loved it!

How many sessions have you been a Funner Runner?
This is my first session being a Funner Runner, it is difficult at times but I love the challenge.

What do you love most about being a Funner Runner?
I love our group that I train with and the challenge of what we are doing each day. Everyone is supportive and we can joke around when something is difficult. It adds a little comedic relief, which at times we need. And our Coach Stevven is pretty cool.

What running accomplishment are you most proud of?
Recently I dropped about 2 minutes off of my 5k time, I really pushed myself in that race and was very happy with the outcome.

What are your 2015-2016 goals?
Run a half marathon in or around 2 hours and to keep training and getting stronger. Maybe attempt another one in 2017? (Only if Cindy & my mom will come with me to Disney with me and dress as princesses!)

What is the best piece of advice you'd give someone considering their first half marathon or
marathon?
Just do it, don't be scared. Also find a group to train with, having a support system and someone to pace with is a big motivation.

What is your favorite place to run in High Point?
Triad Park in Colfax. You can run around the soccer field, go on trails, or run the whole park. On top of that it's so pretty and has lots going on at all times so you are never alone.
